Infertility

It can take couples a long time to conceive. Even if the egg and sperm are in the right place at the right time, conception may not happen. There are a lot of factors which influence how fertile you or your spouse are. They are outlined in the previous sections.
In this section we will discuss what you can do if you have been trying for a year and have still not conceived

What can I do if I haven't conceived?

If you have been having frequent unprotected sex for about a year, your GP may refer you and your spouse for tests, to check fertility.

The tests which may be performed are

  • Hormone Tests
  • Semen analysis
  • Post-coital test
  • Physical examination

What do I do if there is something wrong?

The results of the tests may show that there is something wrong or they may not show up anything. If something is found your GP can advise you on the best treatment. If no reason is found for your infertility, you could still conceive on your own but youmay not. IVF can often be used to help people in this situation

We are constructing a new section specifically for fertility and problems associated with it, so please check back soon.

Another option for couples who wish to have a baby but cannot is to use a surrogate mother
