Baby's Development

Measurements at the end of this month

    Length : 43cm (17 inches)
    Weight : 2.2 Kg (5 lbs)

  • Your Baby's brain continues to develop very quickly.

  • She is getting bigger now and doesn't have as much space to move around in.

  • She may have started to turn into a head-down position.

  • She is mature enough to survive if born now but she would need special care.

Mother's Development

  • You may experience stronger Braxton Hicks contractions.

  • Your ribs may become sore as the baby pushes up against them. You may become short of breath more easily.

  • The weight and size of the baby puts a strain on your skeletal system, especially your lower back.

  • You may notice a dark line running down your abdomen - Linea Nigra.

  • Your check-ups will become more frequent as your due-date approaches.

  • You may notice the shape of an elbow or foot on your abdomen as your baby kicks and moves.

  • Eagerness to have the pregnancy over and apprehension about the baby’s health and labor and delivery are probably increasing. You don’t have much longer to wait!

Things To Do

  • You should be prepared to leave at any moment. Have your bag packed, know how you are going to get to the hospital and have important phone numbers close to hand.

  • This is a good time for you to get the essentials that you will need when the baby comes.

Tips

  • Eating smaller amounts more frequently may help as your baby puts pressure on your stomach.

  • Practise your breathing exercises during the day. It will help you when you go into labour.
