    Length : 38cm (15 inches)
    Weight : 1.3 Kg (3 lbs)

     

  • Your Baby can now open and close his eyes and cry.

     

  • He can hear sounds from outside the womb and responds to light and sound.
     
  • His bones begin to strengthen and harden.
     
  • She is developing a layer of fat under her skin, which will help her to maintain her temperature after birth.
     
  • The lanugo starts to disappear from her face.

Mother's Development

  • You may lose your balance more easily, as your bump gets bigger. Avoid situations where you could fall e.g. standing on a stool.
     
  • Your breasts may leak enough for you to need to place pasd in your bra.
     
  • Some women experience lower back pain as the baby grows and the pelvic joints loosen.
     
  • Your antenatal checkups will become more frequent from now on.
     
  • You may suffer from Hemorrhoids as the blood vessels in your rectum swell.

Things To Do

  • Discuss your pain relief options during labour with your doctor.
     
  • Have a look at our labour guide and decide what is best for you.
     
  • Make sure you have plenty of calcium in your diet. This will help reduce cramps in your leg.

Tips

  • Get plenty of rest, because your body is working hard now, especially if you are a working mother.
     
  • Contact your doctor or visit the hospital if you experience any of the following:
    • Bleeding from the vagina
    • Menstrual-like cramping or intermittent backaches that do not go away after resting
    • Leaking of fluid from the vagina
    • Headaches, blurred vision
    • Swollen ankles, especially hands or face
    • Severe indigestion
    • Sudden sharp abdominal or back pain
    • Any noticeable changes in your baby’s movements
