In cultures sons are treated differently than daughters, this is based on historical traditions, in many cultures a son is preferred. This may be due to the fact that a son will carry on the family name or that a daughter will require an expensive dowry to be paid when she marries. Whatever the reason almost every culture will treat sons and daughters differently. Its not that unusual if we then treat our children differently. A son will be dressed in masculine clothes, be given male orientated toddler toys to play with e.g. tractors, footballs etc., whereas a daughter will be dressed in feminine colours and are given dolls,, kitchen sets etc to play. Its not clear whether boys are genetically attracted to the masculine activities and objects or whether the fact that we feed the situation by placing a boy in a masculine environment and a girl in a feminine environment. What is clear is the environment should be loving and caring and if it is, the happiness you can get from your daughter will be worth it. ![]()
