You can collect milk from your breasts by hand or using a pump (manual or electric).Once you collect the milk, you can store it in bottles or containers to feed to your baby at a later time.


 

Why should I express milk?

Expressing milk can help if you have engorged breasts. It can also allow your baby to continue to get breastmilk even if you are not there.


 

How can I store expressed milk?

You should place your expressed milk in sealed feeding bottles. The bottles, should be sterilised before hand.

Use the milk within 72 hours if it has been kept in a refrigerator. Frozen milk can last at least a month and then up to 24 hours, refrigerated, after thawing.
